Who is more likely to be in God’s kingdom—the gambler, or the person who never takes any risks? The surprising answer to this question is found in Christ’s Parable of the Talents. Two servants took risks with their master’s money, and he rewarded them for it. But the servant who took no risk at all was called a wicked servant! God gives us the guiding principle that whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, but whoever is willing to lose his life will save it. This sermon demonstrates from both Biblical and secular examples how that principle works. God took His Spirit from King Saul because Saul wasn’t doing the work that God required him to do. As with King Saul, the Christian risks losing God’s Spirit if he is not carrying out God’s will in his life. Find out how Satan’s exploitation of our timidity is one of his most powerful weapons in his war against Christians, and how not having to face danger can itself be dangerous!
