Love is a word we toss around so freely. With the realization that Jesus laid down everything he was going to be as a human being, and in the process suffered incredible shame, torment, torture, isolation—so that we might live—we see that God has not merely a love, but a passion for us. It’s in the process of coming to know Jesus Christ, to know the Father, by means of reading the Bible and prayer, that we have any chance to come to grips with this.
