This entry is part 26 of 33 in the series The Book of Genesis (Wes White)

As we read through the Bible we have to conclude that God gives us the information we need to live our lives according to His will, but wouldn’t it be nice to have known more of the details of any given scenario?

For example, we’re not told much about the logistics of Abraham’s life. How did they move his vast entourage and herds from place to place? Did they have wagon trains to carry all their goods? What must their tents have been like; and so on?

No, the Bible doesn’t always tell us everything we’d like to know about the life and times of the Patriarchs, mainly because of lack of space. Plus, we should bear in mind that we are all on a “need to know” basis with God.

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Deuteronomy 29:29
