When you get on an airplane to go somewhere, do you have faith that you are going to get where you are going? Sure you do. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t get on the airplane. Faith in when you will get there, whether your luggage will arrive with you, or whether you will get anything to eat along the way is another story. But then, there are differing degrees of faith, aren’t there?
So how does this relate to religious faith? It really boils down to whether you believe the story. And in the simplest possible terms, this is what faith is all about. It is deciding what you believe about the testimony presented to you. And perhaps even more important, it is deciding what to do about what you believe.
And so the writer of the Book of Hebrews comes along and tells us about all the examples of faith in the Bible.
