Can you be deceived through clever reasoning, or polished oratory by a man claiming to represent Christ? If such a man deceives you, is he responsible for your deception—or are you responsible for being deceived? Letting someone else do your thinking can be dangerous! If you simply follow a man, or change your thinking by following one man instead of another, then are you really thinking for yourself? This sermon demonstrates that no man is the repository of all truth and that the Christian never outgrows his responsibility to prove all things, and hold fast that which is good. How can you be sure that a man who claims to be a minister of God is accurately teaching God’s word? The truth as it is found in the Bible is your only defense against deception. Study God’s word diligently to understand his truth.
